Pure Veg (2024) Video installation, 7:00

The artist embarks on a process of confronting boundaries and narratives of purity they’ve inherited and internalized as a lifelong vegetarian–all over the course of a chicken dinner. As they chew, swallow, occasionally gag, and wash down each bite of chicken, new sensations and questions arise.

How might internal bodily gestures like eating, digesting, and even metabolizing be practices of resistance and care? The work follows a tension between pushing and softening into discomfort, as the act of eating meat oscillates between punishment and playful curiosity.
